The magazine Andalucía Económica published in its latest issue a ranking of the 1200 largest companies in Andalusiawhere very favourable data can be seen regarding the growth of the Andalusian economy, specifically it advanced a growth of 2.9% in 2016. This means that for the third consecutive year the Andalusian economy has outperformed the Eurozone average.
Another fact to be taken into account in this report is the increase in employment in our autonomous community. Andalusia closed 2016 with more employment, more self-employed (9,000 self-employed people registered) and less unemployment. It has generated 66,428 jobs in the regionwith a growth rate of 2.31 p.p.p.3T. 2016 ended with more than three million jobs (3.014.354). Many of the companies with activity in Andalusia created employment last year, among them we highlight: Heineken with 712 new posts, Consentino Group with 528 and Valeo Lighting with 335.
The growth of the economy has been practically generalised in all the productive sectors: primary (+4.31GDP3T), services (+3.11GDP3T) and industry (+1.31GDP3T); only a slight decline was noted in construction (-0.61GDP3T).
One of the leading industries in Andalusia is the agri-food industryThe oil companies in particular, which have increased their exports by 21% in the past year. The olive oil succeeded within and beyond our borders to reach 2,534 million euros. Andalusia has thus consolidated its position as the world leader in olive oil marketing in 2016, exporting 75% of Spanish olive oil.
For this year, the Economic Observatory of Andalusia (OEA) forecasts a GDP growth of 2.8%.
